BCHS Intervention Program The Intervention program is based off of student grades and changes with each new grading period. Students can be placed in one of three options. All options take place during the 25 minutes after 4th period and before the regular lunch period.
1. Peer Support - this is for all 9th grade students for the first semester. Students will have lessons and activities provided by their Link Leaders 2 days a week and will have Study Hall for the other 2 days each week. After the first semester students will no longer have peer support they will be placed in one of the other 2 options.
2. Extended Lunch - Students who earn a 2.6 or above with only one D and no Fs or a 2.0 or above with no Ds or Fs will earn an additional lunch period. A student with extended lunch who would like extra help should speak with their teacher to see about getting permission to attend a tutorial group. Students with extended lunch can also be trained as a mentor to help in tutorial classrooms.
3. Subject Specific Tutorial - students who do not meet the GPA requirement for extended lunch and show need for improvement in a specific subject will be assigned to tutorial in that specific subject area with their teacher whenever possible. Tutorial is a quiet setting where students can do work and ask questions of a teacher. Some classes will also have peer mentors for extra help.
Placement in Extended Lunch and Tutorial will be re-evaluated each grading period which is about every 5 weeks.
